Jay gave up her pocket money to feed children

At the age of just seven, Jay Kerekes is already changing the lives of 47 underprivileged children.

She did this by making angel charms with the help of her grandmother, Lynn Harris, using wire and beads and selling them in her father’s shop Roger’s Jewellery Studio, in Plettenberg Bay.

Every day when her father came home from work, Jay would ask: “Daddy how many children did we feed today?” After just a few days, R2 360 was raised which was donated to JAM to feed 47 children for a month.

This money would have been Jay’s pocket money, but with the encouragement of her grandmother to help others, Jay happily agreed.

“I enjoyed making the charms and I will continue to make more so that we can feed more children,” she said.
