JAM South Africa has received official certification from the South African Government to operate as an Essential Services Provider.
JAM SA reaches more than 120 000 children daily in Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres (pre-schools or creches) across all 9 provinces of South Africa.
The Department of Social Development, in line with the recently declared national state of disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa ordered the closure of all ECD centres from Wednesday 18th March until, at earliest, Mid-April.
Therefore, to continue providing a highly nutritious meal every ‘school’ day to the children that attend these centres, JAM SA is in process of finalizing the roll-out of ‘take-home’ rations to beneficiaries across the country. This is further boosted by the fact that our work is considered an essential service, and we will do our best to continue providing.
Plans to distribute sanitizer and hand soap to the affected families in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 will also form a part of this initiative. The majority of these children live in poverty-stricken areas and therefore hygiene and sanitization are vitally important to alleviate the threat of this disease. We will work hard to ensure that we create as much awareness as possible whilst at the same time ensuring that our children do not go hungry.
